Letters of Recommendation Status Definitions

Elliot Updated by Elliot

When managing Recommendations within the Teacher and Students views, you may wonder what each status means. We’ve explained that below:

Group By: Teacher

  1. Outstanding: Student (or you, as the counselor) requested a teacher recommendation and is waiting on the teacher to submit the recommendation. The request is “outstanding” with the teacher.
  2. Pending Approval: Counselor needs to approve the student’s recommendation request before it’s sent to the teacher. This column is only visible when the “Require counselor approval of recommendation requests” school setting is enabled.
  3. Declined: The teacher received the request and declined it.
  4. Completed: The teacher recommendation was submitted and can be found in student’s Manage Documents space. Teachers can write and submit recommendations directly in Scoir, upload a document, or the counselor can upload the recommendation on the teacher’s behalf.
  5. Next Deadline: The earliest due date across all prospects where the outstanding recommendation requests assigned to a teacher (generic or college specific letters) may apply.
  6. Registered: Indicates whether the teacher is registered or unregistered on Scoir.
