Updated by Customer Support Team
The My Colleges page in Scoir helps track your colleges at each stage of the admissions journey. It also provides additional information for students such a sorting capabilities by deadline or export options.
By default, your My Colleges tab will open to display (4) columns shown below. There is a (5th) column that is collapsed next to Suggested and labeled Not Interested.
Additional pieces students will find at the top of their screen include: Search, sorting ability, different viewing options (table vs. list view), export options, along with a button to Add Top Choices.
If your student’s school has enabled it, you’ll see a score for their college list, showing how balanced it is. Click on the List Score for more details. Learn more about the Balanced List Score.
Adding Colleges to My Colleges Columns
You can add a college to your My Colleges list in several ways: from your Student Dashboard, the College Search/Discover feature, or individual College Details pages. Learn more here about discovering colleges
To add colleges directly from My Colleges, click +Add College and choose whether to add it to Follow, Applying, or Applied. Simply search for the college and click Follow or Add College.
Column overview
Let's review each column in more detail.
Not Interested Column
Colleges you have dismissed, once followed, or marked as applying but are no longer interested in will be moved to Not Interested. Colleges in this state can still be moved to Following, Applying, and Applied.
To expand the Not Interested column, click the View button in the Not Interested panel. Click Collapse to hide.
To mark a college as Not Interested, click on the three dots in the college tile. Then, click Mark as Not Interested.
Anonymously select your reason for no longer being interested in this college and click Unfollow.
Suggested Column
The Suggested column will only display if there are outstanding suggestions by either linked parents/guardians or counselors. Each tile will display who suggested the college to the you, the student.
Colleges in this state can be followed or dismissed, which will add them to the Following or Not Interested columns, respectively.
Following Column
Colleges in this state are ones you follow and have interest in. Colleges in this column can be moved to Not Interested, Applying, and Applied. Colleges can be quickly added to this column by clicking Add a College.
Applying Column
Once you mark a college as Applying or drag it to the Applying column, you'll be prompted to provide additional information
Scoir will consider you to be in your Senior year of high school starting July 1 of the Summer prior to your expected graduation date. If you begin to mark colleges as Applying before your Senior year, or before the next application cycle opens to Seniors on August 1 of your Senior year, you’ll be asked to specify the application cycle for that application.
If you are applying via an application method other than Scoir, you’ll be asked to provide the email address that’s associated with that application account. This allows us to link this email address to any supporting documents that Scoir sends to the college to ensure the materials get connected with your app. If you’re applying via Common App, you can enter your Common App ID (CAID) here too to help with document matching. The CAID should be in an 8-digit numeric format.
For select colleges, you can also mark whether or not you are applying Test-Optional. For more information on what test-optional means, please see here.
Colleges in the Applying state can be moved to Not Interested, Following, and Applied. Colleges can also be quickly added to this column by clicking Add a College from the toolbar.
If you wish to no longer apply to a college in your Applying column, you can use the 3 dots on the college tile to the right to Remove from Applying.
You can also use the 3 dots to move the college to the Applied column, or you can drag the college over to the Applied column to move it as well. Be sure to only do this after you have officially applied to the college!
Applied Column
How do I let my counselor know I’m applying to a college?
Once you move a college to the Applied column, and if your high school uses Scoir and you're linked to it, your counselor will automatically be notified through Scoir and will send the necessary documents on your behalf.
If your high school doesn't use Scoir, you'll need to inform your counselor directly and request that they send your documents after you've submitted your application. If you applied using Scoir, you can request documents be sent via an email from Scoir—follow the directions here.
We understand that every school is different. If your school has a specific procedure for the college application process, please make sure to communicate with your counselor directly on how to go about notifying them!
Applied with a Specific Major
Once you mark a college as Applied, you will be prompted to provide additional information including specific major selection when adding a college to this column.
To provide a specific major, select the Yes checkbox in the Did you apply for a specific major? section, then search for the major via the Select a Major search bar.
Updating Your Application Outcome on your Applied Colleges
To update your application outcome, click Edit Outcome in the expanded card view of the college.
Use the drop down in order to select the appropriate application outcome you received from this college. You can also use the toggles to denote if the application was waitlisted or deferred, and add any additional comments regarding your application as well.
For more in depth, step-by-step directions on setting your college outcomes, please see here.
The College Details panel
Clicking on a College card opens the College Details Panel that displays the college logo, name, and location. A blue button at the top navigates to the college details page, which has more data on that college. The panel also has the following sections:
- Application Status: Information such as the application method and deadline for schools you've marked as Applying or Applied
- Admissions Intelligence: This section includes Acceptance Likelihood, which is a classification of colleges based on their selectivity for each student. If your high school is connected in Scoir and has enabled these features, you'll also have access to personalized Predictive Chances for each application round, profile simulation tools, and Scattergrams.
- Application Document Status: Here you’ll see documents your counselor has sent in support of this application if you are connected to a high school in Scoir
- My College Checklist: For colleges in Applying or Applied, you'll see a list of college-specific requirements that serves as a guide for the application
- Activity log: A detailed, timestamped record of updates and actions
College tiles in Applied will display deadline information pertaining to your chosen application type, as well as college checklist, completion rate, and an Academic Overview of the college when you click on and expand the tile.
Viewing My Colleges in table format
In Scoir, you have the ability to shift the view of your My Colleges to in list view or in a table format. To switch to table view, simply click the table icon in the toolbar. For more details on viewing students' college lists in table format, click here.
Top Choices
Top Choices allows you to create a personalized list of your favorite colleges within your My Colleges List. Choosing your top colleges helps you stay organized and focused on the schools you’re most interested in, making it easier to keep track of important deadlines and communications. If you’re connected to your high school in Scoir, having this list will also keep your counselor informed about your priorities, enhancing their guidance and support.
