How do I let my counselor know I’m applying to a college?

Once a college is moved to the Applied state, if your high school uses Scoir and you are linked to your high school in Scoir, your assigned counselor will be notified in Scoir, and will know to send documents on your behalf.

If your high school does not use Scoir, you will need to notify your counselor outside of Scoir and can request they send documents on your behalf after you have officially applied. If you applied with Scoir, you can request they send document on your behalf via an email from Scoir by following the directions here.

Please ensure that you have submitted your application via your preferred method before marking a college as applied.
Please note: When using Apply with Scoir to apply to a college, once you’ve completed and sent the application, your college will automatically be moved to the Applied column. You cannot move this to the applied column otherwise (manually.) You’ll be able to monitor available updates to your application through My Colleges

We understand that every school is different. If your school has a specific procedure for the college application process, please make sure to communicate with your counselor directly on how to go about notifying them!

The table format is the default view which shows as the below. You can use the same button to go back to this view if you are in Column view and select View as Table.

Top Choices in My Colleges

Top Choices are your personal way to list your favorite colleges in your My Colleges. Your individual list will never be shared with colleges.

Your personal top choices will also show in your college list as its own column, and marked on the college tiles in table view.

You can add as many top choices as you like and top choices can always be changed or updated as needed.

Why Should I Add Top Choices?

Your list might have a lot of schools and choosing your top choices will help you to better keep track of the schools that you are most interested in. This might also help you to stay on top of important deadlines, messages, or meetings with the school.

If you are connected to your high school in Scoir, having a list with top choices will help keep your counselor informed on what schools are most important to you, which will help in the guidance and advice that they give to you.
