For Students: My Colleges

Client Success Team Updated by Client Success Team

The My Colleges page tracks your colleges at each stage of the admissions journey.

My Colleges

You can add a college to My Colleges list various ways: from your Student Dashboard, College Search, College Details Pages, or directly from within My Colleges.

You can set the Acceptance Likelihood of a college via the Set Acceptance Likelihood link on the college tile and within the expanded card view.

My Colleges is broken up into five distinct columns. Depending on their state, college tiles can be moved from one column to another.

Not Interested

Colleges you have dismissed, once followed, or marked as applying but are no longer interested in. Colleges in this state can be moved to Following, Applying, and Applied.

To open the Not Interested column, click the View link in the Not Interested panel. Click Collapse to hide.

Suggested

The Suggested column will only display if there are outstanding suggestions by either linked parents/guardians or counselors.

Colleges in this state can be followed or dismissed, which will add them to Following or Not Interested, respectively.

Following

Colleges in this state can be moved to Not Interested, Applying, and Applied. Colleges can be quickly added to this column by clicking + Add a College.

Applying

Once you marked a college as Applying, you will be prompted to provide additional information including application type and method.

Once you have chosen to apply with Scoir, you will not be able to change your Application Method selection in our system. If you wish to apply using a different method, you will need to coordinate that application process outside of Scoir.
Please note: When using Scoir to apply to a college, once you’ve completed the process, your college will automatically be moved to Applied. You’ll be able to monitor available updates to your application through My Colleges.

To provide application type, select the type from those available in the Applying window.

To provide application method, select the method from those available in the Applying window, then provide additional detail such as Type and Application IDs, if available.

For select colleges, you can also mark whether or not you are applying Test-Optional. For more information on what test-optional means, please see here.

Colleges in this state can be moved to Not Interested, Following, and Applied. Colleges can be quickly added to this column by clicking + Add a College.

Applied

How do I let my counselor know I’m applying to a college?

Once a college is moved to the Applied state, your assigned counselor will be notified in Scoir, and will know to send documents on your behalf.

Please ensure that you have submitted your application via your preferred method before marking a college as applied.
Please note: When applying with Scoir as your application method, once you’ve completed the process, your college will automatically be moved to Applied. You will be able to monitor available updates to your application through My Colleges.

We understand that every school is different. If your school has a specific procedure for the college application process, please make sure to communicate with your counselor how to go about notifying them directly.

Once you mark a college as Applied, you will be prompted to provide additional information including specific major selection when adding a college to this column.

To provide a specific major, select Yes in the Did you apply for a specific major section, then search for the major via the major search bar.

College tiles in Applied will display deadline information pertaining to your chosen application type, as well as college checklist completion rate and the status of required documents to be sent by your counselor.

Additionally, college tiles in Applied will display application outcome information pertaining to your chosen application type.

Colleges in the Applied column cannot be removed. Colleges can be quickly added to this column by clicking + Add a College.

If your high school has enabled the Pending Acknowledgement feature, you will not be able to move colleges into Applied until they have been acknowledged by a counselor.

Top Choices in My Colleges

Top Choices are your personal way to list your favorite colleges in your My Colleges List.. Your individual list will never be shared with colleges.

Your personal top choices will also show in your college list and as a category in table view

TIP! You can add as many top choices as you like and top choices can always be changed or updated as needed.

Why Should I Add Top Choices My Schools?

Your list might have a lot of schools and choosing your top choices will help you to better keep track of the schools that you are most interested in. This might also help you to stay on top of important deadlines, messages, or meetings with the school.

Also having a list with top choices will help keep your counselor informed on what schools are most important to you, which will help in the guidance and advice that they give to you.
