For Counselors: How to view a student's college list in table layout

Cristina Hernandez Updated by Cristina Hernandez

This guide will show you how to view your students' My Colleges list in a streamlined table format. You'll also learn how to customize the layout and navigate the table view, making it easier to compare colleges across your students' lists and help them make informed decisions.

Switching to the table layout

  1. Go to a student's profile, then select Colleges & Applications > My Colleges from the left-hand side menu
  2. Once on the My Colleges page, click the Table icon in the top right corner to switch to the table layout. If you'd like to return to the column layout, click the grid icon.

What information is available in the table layout?

As a counselor, you can see key details about each college on a student’s list in an easy-to-read table format. You can customize the table to show information on cost and financial aid, average test scores, acceptance rates, and more. It also lets you track a student’s top choices, see where they are in the application process, and view their predicted admission chances for different application rounds.

Next, we'll go over the tools you can use to customize your view and tailor the table to your needs.

Toolbar overview

The toolbar above the table offers several options to customize your experience.

1. Filters - Narrow down the colleges on the student’s list based on their status (suggested, following, applying, applied, or not interested).

2. Columns -Customize the information displayed in the table by adding or removing columns, or rearranging them using drag-and-drop. You can also adjust the column width as needed or click on the three dots in a column header to pin or freeze a column to the right or left of the table.

3. Saved Views - Saved Views let you filter, sort, and customize columns to organize information just the way you need it—and save those settings for quick access later.

To help you get started, we’ve included four built-in Views in My Colleges, each displaying columns that match the applied filters:

  • Overview – The default View, showing colleges in Suggested, Following, Applying, and Applied statuses.
  • Following – Displays only the colleges the student is currently following.
  • Suggestions – Shows colleges recommended for the student.
  • Applications – Lists colleges where the student is actively applying or has already applied.

While these default Views can’t be edited, you can customize the table and save your changes as a new View or update one of your existing custom Views. Learn more about creating and managing Views.

4. Export - Download the table as a PDF or CSV file, with the option to choose which fields to include. See an example here.

5. Add College - Search for and suggest colleges or add them to your student’s Applying or Applied lists. You can also explore colleges on behalf of the student using the Search Colleges for Student option.

6. Column/Table View Toggle - Switch between list and table views of My Colleges.
