Scoir + Common App Integration – Coming Soon!
Updated
by Cristina Hernandez
We’re excited to share that Scoir is working on an integration with Common App that will be available for the 2025–26 academic year. This partnership is designed to streamline the college application experience for students and counselors alike. While we’re still finalizing the details, our goal is to ensure the integration is seamless and supports your existing workflows.
We know how important it is for you to plan ahead. That’s why we’ll update this FAQ every Wednesday morning at 10am ET with new questions and additional information. We encourage you to routinely check back in to see what’s new!

General Questions
When will the integration be available?
🔄 What's our timeline to decide if we want to leverage the Common App integration and how do we opt in (or out)?
If you'd prefer to share your official decision now, please reach out to your CSM directly and they'll ensure it's reflected for your school.
Final decisions need to be made no later than July 20th. Of course, if you have additional questions or concerns about the integration while making your decision, please share those with your CSM and they'll help provide more details.
Will there be an additional cost?
This is part of our commitment to making college applications easier—without increasing your budget.
What will change with the new integration?
Students will complete their FERPA release & waiver, make Fee Waiver requests, and complete their portion of Early Decision Agreements in Common App for those colleges they’re applying via Common App.
Counselors will finalize their portion of shared forms, as well as build and send all other required forms entirely in Scoir. When submitting forms, they will be routed through Common App, which will then send it to the college for a consistent delivery experience.
And, you still have control over how teacher recommendations flow and Common App will no longer prompt students to request teacher evaluations and recommendations.
Our intent with the integration isn’t to make drastic changes to Scoir, and our current efforts are focused on ensuring existing features are refined to seamlessly support the completion and routing of Common App documents in ways that counselors are accustomed to today.
You’ll find more details on all of these changes throughout this FAQ.
Once the integration is released, how soon can it be rolled out to rising seniors?
Does the integration apply to alumni or transfer students?
Are there any benefits and considerations to help me decide if the integration is a good fit for my school?
• A more streamlined process with fewer steps for students
• No more conflicting instructions about how and where to request recommendations, helping reduce confusion and preventing duplicate recommendation requests
• Application materials are collected and delivered in a consistent manner to colleges
• Better visibility into the student application journey when they apply via Common App
But, we know there may be some changes that won’t fit into everyone’s workflow with the integration turned on:
• You’ll no longer be able to upload LORs on behalf of teachers for Common App colleges
• You won't have the ability to tailor docs to specific schools or limit what docs are sent
• You may have concerns about the one & done nature of the common app integration, and we’ll get into more details about this shortly
Ultimately, our goal is to make sure you have the information you need to make the best decision for your school — AND that you’re equipped with flexible tools to manage and track applications, and supporting documents, from the different application methods that students use.
Will Common App have access to Scoir student data?
Connecting Accounts
How will student accounts in Scoir get connected with Common App?
Once they click “Connect Common App,” they’ll be directed to log into their Common App account and agree to connect their account.
Once the login is successfully completed, Common App will send us the student’s unique ID, so we can securely sync details and reliably submit materials on the students behalf.
The good news is, you don’t have to worry about students matching the email they use in Scoir with the one they use for Common App.
College List Syncing
How does list syncing work between Scoir and Common App?
At the end of the day, little will change in My Colleges, but what you will see are any changes made in Common App will be reflected in Scoir.
For instance, if a student follows a college on Scoir, and then begins the application process on Common App, we’ll reflect that they’re applying, and what round they’ve chosen in Scoir.
Also, if any schools are added directly to Common App, we’ll pull those into Scoir so they’re reflected on our end as well.
The sync will help ensure accurate details are recorded regarding application round and submission status.
As an added bonus, where we know a student is applying or has applied via Common App, Scoir will not prompt them for their application email address.
And, as a result of the connected accounts and the synced records, we now have more reliable information to provide to colleges to support matching.
Will in-progress Common App applications appear in Scoir?
Will this have automatic nightly syncing, or do students have to sync it manually?
When students apply via the Common App, how long will it take to show up in Scoir?
Can we view the student's Common Application through Scoir without the student having to add us as an “Advisor” on the Common App platform?
Preparing & Sending Counselor Forms
For those that take advantage of the Common App integration, will we need to fill out Forms in Scoir and Common App, or only in Scoir?
One change you’ll notice is we're updating School Report templates to ensure all necessary information is collected and available, regardless of application method.
Moving forward, the School Report creation flow will generate the proper forms based on the application method for each school.
So, if your student is using Common App to apply, we’ll generate the Common App School Report, and if they’re using another method, we’ll generate Scoir’s Secondary School Report.
Counselor recommendations will also be updated to collect additional details to align with Common App’s form requirements. However, schools that choose to opt out of the integration, can update their school settings to revert this change.
Early Decision Agreements & Fee Waiver requests will be initiated by students in Common App, while counselors will complete their portion and submit via Scoir. And, other application methods will continue to work as they do today.
Will we be required to complete the Common App Counselor Forms (School Reports and Counselor Recommendations)?
If you opt out of the Common App integration, this change will not be required.
How will this change the FERPA process for Scoir and Common App for counselors and students?
Is there any way students' transcripts that are uploaded to Scoir could be used to populate the Common App course fields?
Managing Teacher Recommendation Requests & Submissions
When can teachers begin completing Letters of Recommendation, and what changes can we expect to that process?
• The new Common App cycle opens August 1st, and recommendations can’t be submitted before then—regardless of platform.
• We’re actively working to roll out updates and resources to schools as soon as possible, and we anticipate the teacher recommendation process will be live ahead of the August 1st cycle start.
While it is safe for juniors to proceed with requesting teacher recommendations, we recommend asking teachers to hold off on submitting them for now, as we make improvements to the teacher recommendation flow.
As soon as the improvements are completed, we’ll let you know so teachers can begin submitting these again.
Of course, if you decide to opt out of the integration and the updated recommendation flows, you can proceed as soon as you’d like.
When should rising seniors request letters?
As soon as the improvements are completed, we’ll let you know, so teachers can begin submitting these again.
Of course, if you decide to opt out of the integration and the updated recommendation flows, you can proceed as soon as you’d like.
Should students request LORs through Scoir or Common App?
While counselor forms and teacher recommendations can all be managed in Scoir, please note that some colleges require 3rd party recs (e.g. clergy, employer, etc.) and applicants will continue to make these requests in Common App as they have done before.
What if schools have already opened LOR requests?
Of course, if you decide to opt out of the integration and the updated recommendation flows, you can proceed as soon as you’d like, and you can also opt out of the standard forms in school settings.
Can students still choose which letter goes to which college?
If students currently have the ability to submit recommendation requests, they can assign where those letters are sent. If students do not currently have the ability to request letters of recommendation directly, a counselor will have to specify where each letter is sent.
🆕 How will students assign teacher recommendations to specific colleges and know how many should be assigned to each?
Can teachers format letters before uploading?
Will teachers control which colleges see their letters?
Will there be a teacher dashboard for rec tracking?
Can counselors help assign teachers if a student forgets to do so?
Who can see a student's letters — only assigned teachers?
Will we still personalize letters for each college?
Will Scoir show how many recs each college requires?
What happens if students enter counselor/teacher emails into Common App?
Can recommenders outside the school still submit letters?
Sending Application Documents
🆕 Will my school still have the option to require counselor acknowledgement of new applications?
Will there be any changes to the Document sending process with the Common App integration?
First, Common App documents are not batched and sent nightly. When you send a document, in most cases, it will be delivered to Common App within moments of you taking the action. Of course, the timing is subject to volume limits and demand.
Once sent, the documents are collected and stored at Common App and made available to colleges when the student completes each application submission.
If students add colleges to their list after you’ve sent documents to Common App, that’s no problem. Common App will recognize this and tie those docs to the student after the fact.
Next, documents are submitted to Common App by type and not necessarily by application. Because of that, as soon as you create and send a school report, it’s made available to all colleges where the student has applied, which is a key aspect of what is meant by "one & done."
As soon as one of these colleges downloads the document, it can not be updated or replaced. Instead, the counselor will need to submit an Optional Report to notify the college of what was wrong with the initial submission.
Documents are made available to all colleges, regardless of their requirements, with the exception of teacher recommendations.
For example, if only one school on a student's list requires a midyear report, all schools will be able to download and view.
The document types that Common App supports are as follows:
• Teacher Evaluations
• Counselor Recommendations
• School Reports
• Midyear Reports
• Final Reports
• Optional Reports
• Fee Waivers
• Early Decision Agreements
Finally, Scoir will know when each school has downloaded each document and we will continue to provide you with this information in a manner similar to today.
Will transcripts and School Reports be sent through Scoir or Common App, and will the mass send option for transcripts still be available?
Can counselors and teachers continue to only upload Docs to Common App and not send through Scoir if we opt into the integration?
Will student documents be sent automatically or can we have control over what is sent?

How will we receive notification that the supporting documents are ready to be sent?
For instance, a student's assigned counselor will receive a notification in Scoir when a school is added to their applied list, so the counselor can view document status and knows which ones are ready to be sent.
Student Experience
Are there any action items students should hold on completing at this time?
Can students submit some applications via Common App and some applications to Scoir?
Students should continue to apply however best serves them and you, whether that’s Common App, Apply Coalition with Scoir, or another method.
