Exporting Data from Naviance

Cristina Hernandez Updated by Cristina Hernandez

For a smooth transition to Scoir, it is essential to export all applicable student data from Naviance, as outlined in the export guide below, and provide it to Scoir. This data helps populate Scoir features like standard reports, scattergrams and test scores, Predictive Chances etc, allowing you to access & share comprehensive data with students.

📌 Important things to know before you begin

  • Application Imports: Scoir currently supports imports of alumni applications only. We do not support importing current student applications during the academic year. Instructions for adding current student applications to Scoir will be included in your welcome email after your account is set up.
  • District vs. Single School Exports: If you are part of a district, please provide single school exports, not a district export. District exports remove dates from test scores, making the files unusable for import. If your Naviance export has a "school name" dropdown menu, it is likely a district export. Please obtain single school exports from a team member with the necessary access.
  • Student IDs with Zeros: If your student ID numbers start with a "0," please let Scoir Support know when files are submitted.

📂 What data should be exported from Naviance?

For the most complete data in Scoir, it's important to export all student data files from Naviance—both alumni and current students, across all class years. Please export data (as far back as you would like) through grade 9 and do not limit the export to only grade 12.

Here is an example of the data export tab where you will include (as far back as you would like, 2014 ‘to’ 20xx (grade 9 students).  Alumni should be first, grade 9 last.

📤 How do I export data from Naviance?

This Naviance export guide will walk you through each step of the export process.

Below is an outline of the data we expect to see for your Naviance data exports. All files with a green check box should be exported.

Exporting data does not remove it from Naviance; it only creates a copy for Scoir.

➡️ What happens next?

Naviance data is imported to Scoir first and then SIS is overlaid on top of this data to ensure a clean data set is ready for your team’s Scoir experience.

If you're setting up your school account, exporting Naviance data is just one step in the process. Please refer back to your data gathering instructions guide provided by your Customer Success Manager to ensure all necessary steps have been completed and to see next steps.
