For Counselors: Getting started with Views

Cristina Hernandez Updated by Cristina Hernandez

Views allow you to personalize table settings—like filters, sorting, and columns—across the Student Roster, Colleges list, and a student’s My Colleges page. By saving a View, you can quickly access your preferred layout, making it easier to focus on the data that matters most.

In this article, we’ll show you how to create and manage Views in the Student Roster, but the same steps apply to the Colleges list and a student’s My Colleges page.

Get started with Views

When you first open the Student Roster, Colleges list, or a student’s My Colleges page, you’ll see a Scoir-provided View as your default. This View features a standard layout with key information to get you started.

To switch between Views or create your own, click the binocular icon. From there, you can easily select, customize, or create new Views to organize and display the data in a way that works best for you.

Scoir-Provided Views

Scoir provides a few ready-to-use Views to help you get started, each showing columns relevant to the filters applied:

Student Roster

Current Students: The default view, filtered to show students in your school’s class years (e.g., 2025–2028).

Colleges

Our Colleges: The default view, with the "Show Only Our Colleges" filter toggled on and the Class Years filter set to your school’s class years (e.g., 2025–2028). This view shows colleges your students are engaged with and provides school-specific statistics based on those graduating classes.

My Colleges (table view)

  • Overview: The default View that displays colleges in Suggested, Following, Applying, and Applied statuses.
  • Following: Shows colleges the student is currently following.
  • Suggestions: Shows colleges recommended for the student.
  • Applications: Lists colleges in the Applying and Applied categories.

Any changes you've made to your current view will be preserved, so you can navigate the system without losing this work. If you open a new tab and log in, you'll return to your default view. Unsaved changes are indicated by a blue dot next to the binocular button.

While Scoir-provided Views can’t be edited, you can save changes as a new custom View, update or delete custom Views, and set your preferred View as the default at any time.

Create a new View

You can create a custom View to tailor the table display to your needs. Custom Views are shared across your school’s staff.

  1. Go to the Student Roster (or Colleges/My Colleges page).
  2. The Roster will display in the default View. If you'd like to start from a different View, click the binocular icon and select another View to start with.
  1. Customize the table:
    1. Apply filters
    2. Sort data
    3. Add, remove, or reorder columns
  2. Open the binocular menu again and select Save as New View next to the current View.
  1. Name your new View and choose whether you'd to set it as your default.
  2. Click Add to save.

Revert unsaved changes to a View

If you make changes to a View that you haven’t saved yet—such as applying filters, sorting, or adjusting columns—and want to undo those changes, you can use the Revert to Last Save option. This will restore the View to its last saved state, discarding any unsaved changes you've made.

  1. Go to the Student Roster (or Colleges/My Colleges page).
  2. After making changes to your current View, click the binocular icon and select Revert to Last Save next to the View to undo the changes and restore it to its last saved state.

Save changes to a custom View

You can update a custom View by adding or removing filters, rearranging columns, or adjusting sorting preferences. Once saved, your changes will be visible to all staff at your school.

Pre-made views in Scoir cannot be edited, renamed or deleted. However, you can save changes as a new custom View or update an existing custom View.
  1. Go to the Student Roster (or Colleges/My Colleges page).
  2. Click the binoculars icon to select a custom View.
  3. Make the desired changes to your table (add/remove columns, adjust filters, etc.)
  4. Click the binoculars icon again, and the click the Save Changes icon next to the View.
