For Counselors: Manage Colleges on Behalf of a Student

As students begin building their college lists and setting preferences, help keep them on track with our college management tools.

Searching for Colleges

There are a couple of ways to search for and filter colleges whether you're doing general research or on behalf of a specific student. Below is a brief overview, but you can learn more about navigating search in the student article!

Search for colleges by going to the 'Discover' tab in the top navigation and selecting 'Colleges'

Begin by utilizing the 5 most used filters: Academic Focus, Degree, Size, Location, and Setting. Narrow down the search even further in All Filters.

Once you've found a good match, click 'Suggest' and add the names of the students. This suggestion will show in the "Suggested" column of their My Colleges.

Searching on behalf of an individual students

Navigate to the individual student's profile, and select Colleges & Applications. Choose My Colleges, and then click 'View Search.'

From here, you can search for colleges on behalf of that student and easily recommend them for that particular student.

Toggling My Colleges to Table View

In Scoir, you have the ability to shift the view of your students' My Colleges lists to sort schools by different characteristics. This article covers the ability to view your student's My Colleges List in a table format.

  1. To toggle to table view, click the Table icon at the top of the My Colleges List.

  1. Sort schools as needed by clicking on the column headers.

Adding Colleges for a Student

As a counselor, you have the ability add applications for students.

To do this, search for and select your student. Navigate to the 'Colleges & Applications' tab in the student's profile.Add a college to the Student's tab, OR Click the tile of the college you wish to use.

You can also move a college from the 'Following' column over to 'Applying.'

For colleges being applied with Scoir, you will not be able to move the college from 'Following' to 'Applying.' The college tile will be moved automatically once the student begins filling out the Apply with Scoir application.

Once application type and method are provided, click 'Save'. This will move the Tile to the 'Applying' column and kick off the document send process for this student.

Removing a College After Adding it to Student's Applying or Applied

To Remove a College from the Applying Column

1.  Navigate to the student's profile (by searching their name or selecting them from your Student Roster). Under their Colleges & Applications section, click My Colleges.
