For Counselors: View and manage your student's Drive

Actions described in this guide require the Student Counselor role. If you need your role updated, please contact your account administrator.

Scoir offers an easy and efficient way for counselors to manage student documents and resources by providing access to each student's personal Drive. You can view, add, and delete files or links, allowing you to share important documents and web resources directly with students.

View items in a student's Drive

  1. Go to a student's profile by searching for their name or selecting them from the roster.
  2. In the studentā€™s profile, select School Drive from the left menu to view content added by the student and items counselors have directly added or shared.
  3. Files shared through School Drive are read-only for students and marked with an icon for easy identification.
  1. Select the title of any file or link to open it.

Add items to a studentā€™s Drive

You can add files or links directly to individual studentsā€˜ Drives. Once added, the student will have shared ownership of the item, allowing them to edit or delete it.

  1. Go to a student's profile by searching for their name or selecting them from the roster.
  2. In their profile, click Drive from the left menu.
  3. In the top right, click Add and choose File or Link
  1. To add a file:
    1. In the Choose Files window, click Choose files or drag and drop files directly into the window.
    2. Click Upload once the files are selected.
    3. In the Add File dialog box, you have the option to ā€œHide from parents/guardians.ā€
    4. Click Add to Drive.
  2. To add a link:
    1. Paste the URL (make sure to copy it from your browserā€™s address bar, including the "http://" or "https://").
    2. Give the link a title.
    3. In the Add Link dialog box, you have the option to ā€œHide from parents/guardians.ā€
    4. Click Add.

Delete items from a studentā€™s Drive

Counselors can delete counselor-created items from a studentā€™s Drive.

To delete a file or link from a studentā€™s Drive:

  1. Go to a student's profile by searching for their name or selecting them from the roster.
  2. In their profile, open Drive from the left menu.
  3. Click the three-dot menu (ā€¢ā€¢ā€¢) next to the file or link you want to delete.
  4. Select Delete from the menu and confirm the deletion.

Actions counselors can take on items in a studentā€™s Drive

Counselors can perform various actions on items in a studentā€™s Drive by clicking the three-dot icon (ā€¢ā€¢ā€¢) next to a file or link. However, counselors have limited options for items shared from School Drive or via the Roster. To manage these items, counselors must do so directly from the School Drive

Hereā€™s a quick rundown of the actions:

  • Preview: Take a glance at your file.
  • Download: Download a copy of the file.
  • Rename: Change the name of a file or folder.
  • Copy link: Copy the link to your clipboard.
  • Edit: Update a link or it's title.
  • Play: Open a video player and play your video.
  • Hide from parents/guardians: Restrict parents' access to the resource.
  • Delete: Remove files or folders from School Drive.

Supported file types

Scoir supports the following file types, ensuring compatibility for documents, media, and external resources:

Images: .png, .gif, .jpeg, .jpg, .tiff

Documents:Ā .pdf, .doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx, .ppt, .pptx, .odp, .ods, .odt, .txt, .rtf, .csv, .key, .pages, .numbers
