For Parents: View and manage your student’s Drive

Scoir offers a comprehensive document storage solution for students, where they can store and organize various file types and external links. As a parent or guardian, you can view, add, delete, and take other actions on items in your student’s Drive, helping you stay connected to their academic progress and preparations.

☝️To access and manage your student’s Drive, ensure that you're linked to your student’s account. If you’re not yet linked, follow these steps.

​View items in your student’s Drive

To view the items in your student’s Drive, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the profile menu in the top-right corner and select the student whose Drive you want to access from the dropdown menu. This will take you to their profile.
  2. From the student’s profile, click Drive in the left-hand menu.
  3. Files in your student’s Drive will be listed in a table. Files shared by their counselor will have this icon, and actions will be limited when you click the three-dot icon (•••) button on the right.
  1. Click the title of a file to preview it, click a link to open the file, or click a folder to view its contents in the table.

Add items to your student’s Drive

  1. Click on the profile menu in the top-right corner and select the student whose Drive you want to access from the dropdown menu. This will take you to their profile.
  2. From the student’s profile, click Drive in the left-hand menu.
  3. In the top right, click Add and select whether you want to add a file or link. You can also drag and drop files directly onto the Upload files section below the Drive table. 
  1. To add a file:
    1. In the Choose Files window, click Choose files or drag and drop files directly into the window.
    2. Click Upload once the files are selected, then click Add to Drive.
  2. To add a link:
    1. Paste the URL (make sure to copy it from your browser’s address bar, including the "http://" or "https://").
    2. Give the link a title, then click Add.

Delete items from your student’s Drive

Parents/guardians can only delete items they’ve added to a student’s Drive. To delete a file or link, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the profile menu in the top-right corner and select the student whose Drive you want to access from the dropdown menu. This will take you to their profile.
  2. From the student’s profile, click Drive in the left-hand menu.
  3. Click the three-dot icon (•••) next to the file or link you want to delete.
  4. Select Delete from the menu and confirm the deletion.

Actions parents can take on items in a student’s Drive

Parents/guardians can take various actions on items in a student’s Drive by clicking the three-dot icon (•••) next to a file or link. The available actions depend on who added the item—whether it was you, your student, or their counselor—or if it was shared with your student by their counselor.

  1. Click on the profile menu in the top-right corner and select the student whose Drive you want to access from the dropdown menu. This will take you to their profile.
  2. From the student’s profile, click Drive in the left-hand menu.
  3. Files in your student’s Drive will be listed in a table. Files shared by their counselor will have this icon, and actions will be limited when you click the three-dot icon (•••) button on the right.

Here’s a quick rundown of the actions:

  • Preview: Take a glance at your file.
  • Download: Download a copy of the file.
  • Rename: Change the name of a file or folder.
  • Copy link: Copy the link to your clipboard.
  • Edit: Update a link or it's title.
  • Play: Open a video player and play your video.

Delete: Remove the file from your student's Drive.

Supported file types

Scoir supports the following file types, ensuring compatibility for documents, media, and external resources:

Images: .png, .gif, .jpeg, .jpg, .tiff

Documents.pdf, .doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx, .ppt, .pptx, .odp, .ods, .odt, .txt, .rtf, .csv, .key, .pages, .numbers
